Will you Love Me?

love-me2

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

So many questions I have for you

As we travel to our forever anew

The issues of love, trust and being together

Our tireless bonds that we dare not sever

Will you love me the way that I love you?

Or will you love me more than I ever knew

Will we live a beautiful and simplistic life?

Or complex, dramatic and full of strife

Will you love me in the morning or late at night?

Is your love like a mothers love, caring and full of life?

Or is it rude, crude and full of spite

See love transcends and transforms our logical being

Poorly understood but deeply felt and seen

It comforts and creates, but cuts deep like a knife

The most powerful emotion in this here life

Will you love me through thick and thin?

Will you love me from deep within?

Love me like you want to be loved

Our souls set free like the flying dove

Love me

Love me

Love me more

For I love you and only you I adore

I wish the world could hear my plea

To stop the violence that is killing me

Me as in soldiers persecuted by senseless wars

Belittling our significance in today’s troubled world

A world free of racism

What a wonderful thought

Smashed by pure ignorance

Just look at the results

A nation of adults

We are supposed to be rational

But instead bicker and whine over simple skin color

Hear my plea my fellow citizens

That if we continue this innate stupidity

From within we will be destroyed

Not Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, Indian, Communist, Liberal, Republican or Democrat

We are one of many

A blending of colors

A melting pot of cultures

Great nations split and skewed

By senseless ignorance and increased arrogance

I wish the world could hear my plea

To stop this violence that is killing me

Years and Years
We have fought for so many years
Upon this land of supposed prosperity and freedom
Striped of the privilege of the American Dream
Now they must grant us our seat at the table
Because today we stand on the shoulders of giants
Overcome we have
Through the fire we pushed on
Looking over our shoulder only at the historical
Focused on our future endeavors
A young preacher from Georgia
A young Senator from Illinois
Two dynamic people
Two inspirations to the masses
Their greatness unparalleled
One preacher’s revelation has become a reality
We all hold hands as one
In this moment in history
As we welcome our 44th President of the United States
President Barack Obama

Liquid Death

liquid-death

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

Into her arm goes the sweetest relief

A beautiful disaster of liquid death doubled with a touch of nose candy

She’s hitting the edge of death wishing for it to take her away

But death won’t come to the willing

Numb is the only emotion felt, not an emotion but a voidance of life while living

Independence without experience took her places she shouldn’t have gone

Introducing her to liquid death

Against the wishes of her family and friends she stood defiant

Till one day they left her crying

Neglected for so long

Wasting away in a grimy shack

With the man who took her life through Hell

Breaking her face on the nasty sheetrock walls

The slums are filled with the screaming agony of suffering

Echoing down the alleyways like a an escaping soul

A bleak existence compared to what once was

A beauty queen so long ago

With dangerous curves and southern charm

Degraded to a hood rat drug fiend

Curves lost with time

She remembers between cycles of a drunken stupor

What once was and what could have been

She remembers the good times and the bad

But nothing compares to the pain that’s felt in her current reality

She must make an escape but he entices her with her weakness for liquid death

But she must escape

Escape from him

Escape from this life

Escape from liquid death

Jangle

Jangle

Funny bones

Spoken by a man named Jones’

Jones’ bones are funny indeed

He keeps them strong by eating peas

Once upon a time one day

When all was quiet and the sky was grey

Here comes Jones with his funny bones

To light the hearts and right the wrongs

He tells the story of a little boy

Who played contently with his toy

An old man comes and asks the boy

“What’s the purpose of playing with that toy?”

The little boy stops and thinks awhile

And then he says with a smile

“This here toy I built myself”

“Cause I’m not a little boy I’m a little elf”

The old man looks on quite amazed

He stood and watched in a clouded daze

He’d remember this moment for the rest of his days

Who would have thought such a being existed?

Is it me or is life really twisted?

Jones’ bones are funny indeed

Funny bones

artful-release

The pressure is building in my brain

A release! A release! Oh my I need a release!

Annoying voices my ears do hear

Like the flight of a mosquito buzzing a little too close

I swat at one but I can’t fight them all

So much tension

Pent up frustration

It seems at times my mind will explode

Or I lose all restraint and come to blows

Lend me your ear

So you can hear

The mountain of anxiety I must bear

Weeks and weeks

Months and months

Years and years of hidden tears

Brought about by age old fears

My release won’t come

It’s artfully hidden

So I continue with a desire of the driven

Artfully releasing what once was unwritten

Who are we who dream of destiny?

Brought up from the land and raised by oppression

Blood, sweat, and tears poured into a land that neglected us

We are the lost children crying out from a forgotten land

What becomes of the broken hearted?

Whose dreams are shattered time and time again?

Ancestral memories not forgotten but trapping us in a submissive mind state

“We Shall Overcome” sung to virgin ears and battered souls

A legacy of love and hate balanced on a thin line

The sense of community lost to our people

A proud people we are

Our legacy lost in ancient manuscripts

Out of the darkness shines a light so bright

Every flicker tells a story of a people

Slighted by fortune pained by the past, hoping for a future

In the darkness our destiny awaits

A future left unwritten

Hello 2009

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

Hello 2009

What do you have in store for me?

Bring me peace

Bring me joy

A year of change I hope you will be

Love, peace and soul the theme of yesteryear

Brought back into focus for the New Year

The rough times of 2008 have come and gone

2009 show me the way

My journey starts anew as all journeys do

This time I want it right

This time will be better

The time will ascend to new heights of success and well being

New experience, new love, new times

2009 will be my year

2009 is my awakening
