flawed

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

The environment I’m in tries to beat me at every turn

But I admit my flaws and continue to drive on

Pursued but not persuaded

I try to be the best I can be

But life halts us and kills motivation

Because we’re flawed by circumstances beyond our control

Give me a moment to shine like starlight

Or crash and burn from my own indiscretions

But give me that chance if only for a moment

To prove my worth although flawed and imperfect

My God given right, my claim to a birthright

Challenged by life’s master plan

I’ll make my way through thick and thin
