I’m fortunate to have made it this far

Coming from where I’m from

People could barely afford a car

So instead they run

On bare feet kissing the hard streets

In dark alleys where killers lurk

I’m happy to be that shining star

To have made it out

To look back and say damn that was ruff

Trying to reach back for at least one more

Instead they wanna stay broke and poor

They don’t see outside of their walls

All they know are those streets

Riddled with broken glass and shattered dreams

Dreams cut short by interrupted sleep

So I’m blessed

Touched by God

Told I would never make it

I’d never amount to nothing

But here I am

Standing tall

Letting the sun shine outside of those walls

So dark and dreary

No longer do I seek thee

Oh wretched feeling of confusion

Causing me to forget who I am for who I feel

You cut me deep, making a wound that will never heal

I just can’t be with you love

Over the years we’ve waned and waxed like moon cycles

Never quite getting to a balance

Always head over heels or nothing at all

You influenced my stupid ways

Making me look like a fool in the worst ways

But still I sought that feeling

That feeling that’s been described to me for years in many forms

But I never truly felt you

I only imagined what someone else’s love would feel like

Never having love of my own

So to you love

Fuck you

You never made me feel brand new

Only made a brand new fool

I never cried tears of joy

Only rivers of pain

My heart never healed

I stay broken hearted

You were never my best friend

Just another enemy that controlled my mind

You dashed my heart to pieces

Broken beyond repair

I no longer feel the pleasure

No longer have a need

No longer feel anything but the numbness

That comes from many sleepless nights

Thinking about one day

When I no longer have to hate to love you

No matter the misgivings and adverse situations of the past

We shall at one given time in life rise

To the top

Rising high above naysayers and doubters

Our spirit grows with an abundance of love

Love crafted over the years by a personality not seen by most but appreciated by those that matter

Tough love

Forgiving like our Creator said we should be

We rise up and are strong examples

For the younger generations

Generations who craft their ideas from the paths opened by the former

Because at the top, the change is implemented

But from the bottom we all rise

Struggling through years we’d rather forget

But we must remember so we learn from our success and mistakes

Rise to the top

And fulfill your destiny

Hello 2009

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

Hello 2009

What do you have in store for me?

Bring me peace

Bring me joy

A year of change I hope you will be

Love, peace and soul the theme of yesteryear

Brought back into focus for the New Year

The rough times of 2008 have come and gone

2009 show me the way

My journey starts anew as all journeys do

This time I want it right

This time will be better

The time will ascend to new heights of success and well being

New experience, new love, new times

2009 will be my year

2009 is my awakening

revolution

A new day is born to the masses

Darkness becomes light shone down from most high

Fighting to survive in the earthly realm of violence and prosperity

Warriors and thinkers converge to change the times

Thought processes altered controlled by what we see and not what we feel

Standing on the mountaintop trying to touch the sky

To open up the glory revealed by what we read

The light shines upon the freedom promised by the past

The future revealed in small increments of knowledge spit out by pastors and politicians

Just enough to calm the mindset of the people who hear but not listen

Upon this land we stand Strong, Tested, and Prepared

To protect what we deem ours

Words

The beautiful creation of the gifted

Censored by the eye in the sky

The man behind the mask

The false prophet

Change

New

Different

Think

Common sense

Destroy

Create

Words of revolution

Words of power

Scare the fabric of old thinking

Embraced by the new generation

Together we rise

Divided we fall

Revolutionary

I am excited and deeply moved at the events that have happened on this historic day! President Barack Obama and I am so proud to say that! I was full of emotion at the news that something like this can happen in my lifetime. America’s dream has finally been given life on the other side of the coin. I love this moment, I am proud to fight for my country!

OBAMA!!!

From the outside in

From the inside out

The world we see has gone crazy

Lost its ever loving mind

Gone are the days of prosperity

Forgotten is the struggle of our forefathers

Was it all a dream?

Is our existence morphed into this twisted reality?

We are susceptible to lies

Threatened by fear

I am enraged by all that I see

My pleas are ignored

My vision disputed

The blind eyes don’t see the tragedy unfolding

Our people turn to others and chastise their own

Dismissing where they come from

Ignorant and close minded we become

Common sense is lost to our society

Eroded by the constant saturation of stupidity

Bring me a change

Open up our minds

Unlock our hearts

We see the tragedy but fail to change our destiny

The State of the Nation

Everyone has their own opinion of how the nation should be run and what direction it should be going in. As you listen to the different opinions and discussions, you have many varied directions.

Where do we get the inspiration?

Where things back then much better? Me personally being on this earth only 22 years, I couldn’t really tell you too much of how things were, but I’ve listened to the discussions my parents and grandparents have about the “good ole’ days” as they call them.

In my opinion it’s another grass is greener on the other side type deal.

I want to know your thoughts on the state of the nation and what direction you think we should take?

Regards,

Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.
