I take this time to reflect

As I stare into her beautiful eyes

Eyes quite like mine

I realize in that moment that I am her father

Her provider

Her protector

Ours is a bind that is rare

Shared only by the few and the proud

Our love is unbreakable

For if that day happens the earth shall shatter within seconds

Forever shaking the core of the base called love

I love this girl

This is little girl

This little girl that I am blessed to see

Blessed to hold

For the first time I can see the love from another

And she’s only 11 months

My own was absent

His reasons I’ll never truly know

Outside influences distracted our bond

He made a bond with something destructive

Instead of something reviving and refreshing

Love is what I speak of

The love of a father

I have the opportunity to share that love with another

To my father, who’s not biological, but the best example of what a father should be Ernie Weathers

To my mother who fulfilled that role as well Mary Weathers

To myself a new father

And to all whom care for their own in any capacity, even if they are not your own.

I salute you

Happy Father’s Day 2011

Random streams of conscience’s that flow

From my mind to the blank paper that rest in front of my eyes

I tell you stories from my past that evolved into my present and maybe my future

Stories that still to this day hurt my thinking

Hurt my heart

Bringing nightmares while I am awake

Awake to suffer the turmoil that torments my psyche every waking moment

Even my night dreams capture my fears and manifest them into horrible beings that haunt my very existence

But I know about hope

That small sliver of positive bearing that makes life worth living

Makes my life have special meaning that only family and friends can provide

Those that are close and not backstabbing

Those that support your decisions and only give you constructive criticism

Not judgmental but supportive in decisions, but are not pushovers

Not afraid of the truth

I love the life I live

But certain aspects give me pause

Make me think of alternate ways to live this life

A life I can share with my family

A life that is full of random acts of positive motion

Forward thinking

Just Like Music

just like music

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

I hear that beat that rumbles the streets

As we dance and dance in this midnight heat

It bounces through the ears of the people of the night

Flying high in the air like a high flying kite

It moves and sashays like a dancing lady

Or like the dance you dance when the checks fat on payday

Rhythmic harmonies betray my feet

Making some dance till they fall asleep

But this beat rises like those hydraulic cars

And even pulls drunks out of those bars

I want to dance the night away

Just like music did that day

Love that transcends the fabric of time

Wishing for more days to celebrate

I spit this passionate rhyme in hopes to brighten your special day

Mother

Mother dear

Can you hear me say I love you from afar?

Oh how I wish I was near

Our circumstances prevent our closeness

But mother dear our loves fills the gap

Fills the void of space

More than a day to cherish your faithful heart

A day can’t make up for 18 years

More like 23 going on 24 years

You’ve been there

Facing unbearable struggles to uplift me to my highest potential

I love you

Love not used lightly

Love encompasses total care

Total surrender

Total affection

The number one lady in my life

More than a day to cherish your faithful heart

Forever my love endures

I love you mother dear

sweet-dreams

The night is growing old, my love

As the sun retires to its fiery bed

And the south wind gently cools the day’s remnants

My thoughts turn to you, my dear

Your smile chases away the troubles of the day

Your touch ignites longing feelings

Feelings of emotional abundance

Draw me in like passionate lovers embrace

Kiss me

Please!

I want to feel you deeply

Immersed in this sweet, midsummer night

Our breathing slows as we adjust to the comforting of our bodies

Our eyes become heavy as the night relaxes us

Cool breeze lightly floats in through the balcony door

My night is wonderful

Your night is lovely

Our night is pleasant, pleasurable and profound

Sweet dreams, mi amore

Sweet dreams

On the 8th day, In October of 1985 I drew my first breath in this world. This world was so new to me, full of wonder and amazement. A birthday is something special, kind of like your own holiday, but more than that it is a beginning of a new age. Some people see this as insignificant, but I truly cherish this day.

So I turn 23 today, for some just another number, but for me another year that I was able to make it to. Many events have transpired up to this point and turning this age reminds me of how far I have come and prepares me for the road ahead. I am truly learning what being a grown man really means.

Being a Grown man means you are able to handle what life throws at you. You are able to weather most any storm. You are prepared to provide for you and yours; you have learned to respect women and elders. You have truly lived and are on top of your game, but you are humble enough to stay grounded to your values and beliefs. You command respect and you give it equally.

No longer are you the immature young one running around without a care in the world. You have responsibilities and goals to achieve. No longer are you the “Player” you are now the “Seeker” you are looking for a quality mate to settle down with. High school games stay in high school, there is no place in the Adult world for such antics.

A Libra, the Zodiac sign for my birthday in October, is supposed to be balanced and romantic. We also are supposed to try to find balance in our surrounding environment, when things are out of whack, no one feels it more than we do.

Happy Birthday to me, this special day I am happy to see. I’ve arrived yet again to another age and I am excited to see what it will reveal for me.

When I think of tomorrow, I sometimes forget to focus on today,

Today draws the blueprint for how tomorrow will be. The future as we know is unpredictable and it will always be that way, God knows my past, present, and future and that’s alright with me.

It’s human nature to worry about things they can’t see or change, we often struggle to make it in the tough world of the present, hoping that what tomorrow brings is better.

It’s good to hope, but sometimes that’s all that people rely on and they forget to focus on today rather than worry about what tomorrow brings, because of this they live in a state of negativity and disgrace.

Selfishness is what destroys people, always try help out your friends and family, even total strangers, and help them today so that tomorrow they might be able to help you.

Money isn’t everything, but love is everlasting. You can run out of money, but love runs like an endless stream. If you truly love someone, that person that you love is going to be the only thing you eat, sleep, and breathe in your thoughts, in your heart, and in your soul.

Love conquers all I’m sure you’ve heard that expression, it really does.

LOVE IS!

Love the person your with Today and reap the benefits Tomorrow!

Day and Night

BY: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

I am tough!
I persevere!
I have the will power of a God!
I am never at my best, I have no limits, and I fear only God
My minds been muddled and filled with mixed feelings and I become numb to the pain, but my inner self said
“Don’t quit and don’t regret”
My body is tired!
I shoulder a heavy burden!
The cries of millions in my ears I hear, but still I push on Tested and Strong!
The sun beats down with fierce intensity and the wind whips up the sand and dirt, making it stings my skin and blinds my eyes, but somewhere in the distance I hear a voice and it tells me
“Keep moving, stay strong”!
Far away from everything I know and love!
Thrust into a foreign land!
Forced to fight or be killed in spite, but day and night I pray for a better day
Day and night I pray for peace
Day and night I pray
I pray
I pray
